Angiopeptin is a cyclic octapeptide analog of somatostatin that does not form disulfide bonds and acts as a partial agonist for the sst2/sst5 receptors, with IC50 values of 0.26 nM and 6.92 nM, respectively. Angiopeptin inhibits growth hormone release and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) production. It suppresses adenylyl cyclase or stimulates extracellular acidification. Angiopeptin holds potential for research on coronary atherosclerosis.
