研究背景：在哺乳动物中，棕榈酰化由称为棕榈酰酰基转移酶 (PAT)3 的 23 种酶家族催化，而去棕榈酰化由四种硫酯酶催化。其中两种硫酯酶，酰基蛋白硫酯酶-1 (APT1) 和 APT2，主要位于细胞质中，另外两种，棕榈酰蛋白硫酯酶-1 (PPT1) 和 PPT2，是溶酶体酶。据报道，酰基蛋白硫酯酶 2 (APT2) 可以使 GAP-43（生长相关蛋白 43）去棕榈酰[1]。
