Orilanolimab (also known as SYNT001 or ALXN1830) is a humanized IgG4‑kappa monoclonal antibody that functions as a neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) antagonist. By binding with high affinity to FcRn, it competitively blocks the interaction between FcRn and the Fc region of immunoglobulin G (IgG). This inhibition disrupts the normal recycling of IgG, leading to accelerated degradation of endogenous IgG (including pathogenic autoantibodies and alloantibodies) and a reduction in circulating IgG levels.
