Orticumab is a human IgG1‑lambda monoclonal antibody designed to specifically target oxidized or malondialdehyde (MDA)‑modified low‑density lipoprotein (oxLDL). By binding with high affinity to oxLDL, it inhibits the pro‑inflammatory and pro‑atherogenic effects of oxidized lipids. Additionally, orticumab modulates the autoimmune response directed against oxLDL, which plays a key role in the development and progression of atherosclerotic plaques. It is being developed as a potential immunomodulatory therapy for cardiovascular diseases, particularly atherosclerosis, with the aim of reducing plaque inflammation and stabilizing vulnerable lesions.
