Suvratoxumab (MEDI4893) is a long-acting, high-affinity humanized IgG1 kappa monoclonal antibody targeting Staphylococcus aureus alpha-toxin (α-toxin/Hla). It neutralizes α-toxin by binding to it, preventing its pore-forming activity on host cell membranes and thus reducing tissue damage and inflammation. It is being developed for the prevention of S. aureus pneumonia in high-risk patients, such as those undergoing mechanical ventilation.
