Setoxaximab is a chimeric human-mouse IgG1 kappa monoclonal antibody targeting Shiga-like toxin type II (SLT-II), a key virulence factor produced by Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC). It binds to and neutralizes SLT-II, aiming to prevent toxin-mediated endothelial damage and reduce the risk of severe complications such as hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). It is being developed for the treatment of STEC infections, particularly in high-risk pediatric patients.
