α-Conotoxin AuIB is a selective antagonist of the α3β4 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, a cyclic peptide composed of 15 amino acids with two disulfide bonds in its sequence, exhibiting a prolonged half-life. Experimental data demonstrate that α-Conotoxin AuIB exhibits over 100-fold higher selectivity compared to other receptor subunit combinations (including α2β2, α2β4, α3β2, α4β2, α4β4, and α1β1γδ).
