α-Conotoxin MII is a highly potent and selective competitive antagonist peptide containing 16 amino acids in its sequence, featuring two pairs of disulfide bonds. It effectively targets nicotinic receptors with α3β2 subunits (IC50 = 0.5–3.5 nM in Xenopus oocytes expressing α3β2), as well as neuronal nicotinic receptors containing β3. Compared to α2β2, α4β2, and α3β4, α-Conotoxin MII exhibits over 200-fold selectivity for α3β2, making it a highly promising antagonist peptide.
