C3bot (154-182) is a transferase deficient neurotrophin fragment of Clostridium C3 protein, consisting of a straight chain peptide of 29 amino acids. C3bot (154-182) promotes axonal and dendritic growth and branching of hippocampal neurons at sub micromolar concentrations, as well as neural regeneration of target tissues in organotypic hippocampal/olfactory slice cultures. It can reduce the level of RhoA in active neurons through non enzymatic mechanisms and has a life science function of enhancing functional recovery and regeneration in spinal cord injury mouse models.
