HNGF6A is a humanin analog peptide containing 24 amino acids in its sequence. It enhances glucose-stimulated insulin secretion and glucose metabolism both in vivo and in vitro, while also improving glucose sensing in βTC3 cells and reducing blood glucose levels in Zucker diabetic fatty rats. It prevents endothelial dysfunction, delays the progression of atherosclerosis in vivo, and protects neurons from NMDA-induced toxicity.
