Ac-[Pro18, Asp21] β-amyloid (17-21), amide, iAb5p Pro18 Asp21 is a sequence with both ends blocked. Acetyl-(Pro18,Asp21)-Amyloid β-Protein (17-21) amide, also known as iAβ5p, Beta-sheet Breaker Peptide βiA 5p, is a pentapeptide with the sequence Ac-LPFFD-NH2. It is a peptide analog modified chemically to enhance its resistance to proteolysis. iAβ5p is a β-sheet breaker peptide and exhibits stronger ability to cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB) compared to most known proteins and peptides selectively taken up by the brain, suggesting its specific transport into the brain. Combined with the reduction of amyloid plaques in two transgenic AD models, significant increases in iAβ5p within surviving neuronal cells and decreased brain inflammation have also been reported.
