Achatin I is a neuroexcitatory polypeptide composed of four amino acids. Achatin I can be derived from the African giant snail (Achatina fulica f é rusac). Achatin I can induce voltage dependent inward current. Achatin I showed significant excitatory effects on the three giant neurons PON, TAN, and V-RCDN of African giant snails.
