Epoxidized Soybean Oil (ESBO, CAS 8013-07-8) is a premium, light-yellow viscous oily liquid chemically synthesized through the epoxidation of natural soybean oil with peroxides. It is insoluble in water but readily soluble in common organic solvents. Characterized as an efficient bio-based, non-toxic plasticizer and secondary heat stabilizer, ESBO exhibits excellent compatibility, low volatility, and superb migration resistance with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resins. Beyond its plasticizing efficiency, the active epoxy groups in its molecular structure effectively scavenge hydrogen chloride (HCl) released during the thermal or photochemical degradation of PVC, offering a remarkable synergistic stabilizing effect.
