AtPep1 is a plant induced peptide composed of 23 amino acids. AtPep1 can activate the transcription of the defense gene defensin (PDF1.2) and activate the synthesis of H2O2, which are components of the innate immune response against pathogens. AtPep1 can be isolated from Arabidopsis leaf extract.
