Misoprostol acid 是一种 Misoprostol 的活性代谢物。Misoprostol 是前列腺素 E1 (PGE1) 的合成类似物，被广泛吸收，口服后迅速在胃肠道中转化成 Misoprostol acid。Misoprostol 可用于非甾体类抗炎药诱发的 (NSAID) 胃溃疡，还可用于引产的研究。
Unlike the Misoprostol, Misoprostol acid is detectable in plasma. Misoprostol is a lipophilic methyl ester prodrug and is readily metabolized to the free acid, which is the biologically active form. Misoprostol is used worldwide for a variety of indications in obstetrics and gynecology. Misoprostol has both gastric antisecretory and mucosal protective effects.
