General procedure for the synthesis of 5-bromo-pyridine-2-carbonyl chloride from 2-carboxylic acid-5-bromopyridine: To a solution of dichloromethane (80 mL) containing 5-bromo-pyridine-2-carboxylic acid (0.05 mmol), oxalyl chloride (0.24 mmol) and N,N-dimethylformamide (5 drops) were slowly added dropwise at room temperature. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure to give 5.4 g (100% yield) of 5-bromo-pyridine-2-carbonyl chloride. | [References]
