| Questions And Answer | Back Directory | [Preparation]
Anhydrous sodium sulfite and bromopentane undergo a sulfonation reaction in the presence of a catalyst, tetrapropylbromosulfonate. After purification and drying, the crude sodium pentane sulfonate is first extracted using a Soxhlet extractor and then recrystallized with anhydrous ethanol. Through two purification processes, impurities such as unreacted sodium sulfite, bromopentane, catalyst residues, and some byproducts generated during the reaction are removed from the sodium pentane sulfonate produced after the reaction, thereby improving the purity of the product and significantly increasing the yield. At the same time, the amount of anhydrous ethanol used is reduced, resulting in high-quality sodium pentane sulfonate. |
