GENERAL METHOD: tert-Butyl 2-cyclohexylhydrazine-1-carboxylate (1.9 g, 8.87 mmol) was dissolved in dioxane and to this solution was added a dioxane solution (20 mL) of 4 M HCl. The reaction mixture was heated to reflux and stirred overnight. Upon completion of the reaction, it was cooled to room temperature, the precipitated white precipitate was collected by filtration, washed with a small amount of cold dioxane and dried to give cyclohexylhydrazine hydrochloride (1.8 g, yield: >100%) as a white solid. | [References]
