Dess-Martin periodinane (3 g, 7.07 mmol) was slowly added to a solution of (3-methoxy-4-methylphenyl)methanol (1 g, 6.57 mmol) in dichloromethane (35 mL) at 0 °C. The reaction mixture was stirred continuously at 0°C for 0.5 hours. Subsequently, a portion of the dichloromethane was concentrated under reduced pressure, and the reaction mixture was diluted with ether and washed sequentially with saturated sodium bicarbonate solution, sodium thiosulfate solution and water. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain 3-methoxy-4-methylbenzaldehyde in quantitative yield. | [References]
