2-Chloro-5-nitrobenzoyl chloride (2CNBCl) is an amide that contains a terminal alkyne. It is synthesized from the corresponding thionyl chloride and ethanolamine in the presence of carbon tetrachloride. 2CNBCl has been shown to inhibit the growth of various cancer cell lines, including those derived from melanoma, lung, breast, and colon cancer cells. 2CNBCl also inhibits the production of growth factor proteins such as platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF). 2CNBCl has also been shown to inhibit DNA synthesis by interacting with enzymes involved in the process. |
