ATN 161 is an α5β1 integrin inhibitor that has advanced to phase II clinical trials to treat solid tumors. | [Biological Activity]
ATN-161 is a non-RGD based integrin binding peptide derived from the synergy region of fibronectin th at inhibits the receptors for integrins alpha-v beta-3 and integrin alpha-5 beta-1. Integrin alpha-5 beta-1 is expressed on endothelial cells and plays a key role in endothelial cell adhesion and migration and may also play a key role in cancer cell invasion and metastasis. The preliminary experiments with α5β1-negative human colon cancer xenografts (HT29) show that treatment with ATN-161 significantly reduces tumor weight and vessel density[1]. Injection of ATN-161 after laser photocoagulation inhibits choroidal neovascularization (CNV) leakage and neovascularization to an extent similar to AF564[2]. | [storage]
