Starting with 5-aldehyde imidazolium and methyl trifluoromethanesulfonate, this study aimed to develop a promising industrial process for producing 1-METHYL-1H-IMIDAZOLE-5-CARBOXALDEHYDE. Various catalysts were screened, and the effects of reaction time, temperature, feed ratio, and pressure on imidazolium conversion and 2-chloro-1-methyl-1H-imidazolium yield were investigated. The reaction conditions were optimized, and the optimal process conditions were determined. The synthetic reaction formula is shown in the figure below:
