Vinylene carbonate (VC) is an important additive material in lithium-ion battery electrolytes, forming a dense and stable organic film on the battery surface. This organic film, without sacrificing conductivity or increasing internal resistance, produces polyalkyl lithium carbonate compounds. These compounds effectively inhibit the insertion of solvent molecules and solvated lithium ions into graphite, reducing electrolyte decomposition, improving the stability of the graphite anode, and thus enhancing the charge-discharge performance of lithium-ion batteries. The lithium-ion battery industry requires high-purity VC. VC is a colorless and transparent liquid, an organic synthesis intermediate, and an additive in lithium-ion battery electrolytes.
