It is a fourth generation semisynthetic aminoglycoside that has antimicrobial activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial infections and also effective against aminoglycoside resistant strains. It has a role as an antibacterial agent. It is an aminoglycoside antibiotic and an amino cyclitol glycoside. It is functionally related to a gentamycin C1a. |
