| [Description]
Anilofos is an organophosphate herbicide used to control annual grass weeds and sedges. It has a low aqueous solubility and a low volatility. It may be moderately persistent in soil systems depending on conditions. It moderately toxic to fish, aquatic invertebrates and honeybees but less so to birds. Anilofos is moderately toxic to mammals via the oral route. It is also a neurotoxin and a recognised irritant. | [Definition]
ChEBI: Anilofos is an anilide. | [Mechanism of action]
Selective, absorbed mainly through roots and works by inhibiting cell division. Inhibition of very long chain fatty acids (VLCFA, inhibition of cell division) | [Safety Profile]
Moderately toxic by ingestion andskin contact. When heated to decomposition it emits toxicvapors of NOx, POx, SOx, and Cl-. | [Synthesis]
1. Synthesis of N-isopropyl-p-chloroaniline
Add p-chloroaniline, 2-bromopropane sequentially to the reaction kettle, heating and stirring, after reacting at a certain temperature for several hours, cooling, adding sodium hydroxide solution and stirrin | [Pesticide Type]
