Triphenylphosphine was slowly added to a solution of N-bromosuccinimide in dichloromethane. The resulting mixture was stirred continuously at 0°C, then refluxed at 60°C with stirring for 15 minutes. After the reaction was complete, the reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature, and then benzyl alcohol was added to the cooled reaction mixture. The mixture was stirred under reflux for 30 minutes. After the reaction was complete, the reaction mixture was concentrated, and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography to obtain the target product 3,4-difluorobenzyl bromide.
