Beschreibung

Polydimethylsiloxane, dihydroxy terminated is a non-toxic, optically transparent, inert, flammable silicone-based organic polymer. It is widely used in heat-resistant lubricants, flame retardants, medical devices, and cosmetics. Polydimethylsiloxane is hydrophobic, cytocompatible and viscoelastic and can be used for water-repellent coatings in the textile industry.

Chemische Eigenschaften

Silanol Terminated Polydimethylsiloxane is a silicon-basedorganic polymer that is nontoxic, optically clear, inert, and inflammablematerial. It is widely used in heat-resistant lubricants, fire retardants,medical devices, and cosmetics. Polydimethylsiloxane is hydrophobic,cytocompatible, and viscoelastic which can be used to prepare water-repellentcoatings in the textile industry.

Verwenden

Polydimethylsiloxane is frequently used in a liquid containing 4-5% silica gel, emulsifiers and preservatives. It is employed in applications like contact lenses, medical devices, elastomers, in shampoos, food (antifoaming agent), caulking, lubricants, kinetic sand , and heat-resistant tiles. PDMS is a common surfactant, component of defoamers and as an herbicidal penetran.
