Uses
1-Methylamino-4-bromo anthraquinone is used as a dye intermediate and can be brominated to obtain 4-bromo-1-methylaminoanthraquinone.

Synthesis
Obtained by the bromination of 1-methylaminoanthraquinone. Bromine is added to a mixture of 1-methylaminoanthraquinone and pyridine, and the mixture is stirred and heated for 6 hours. After cooling, the solid is filtered off, washed with hot water to remove pyridine hydrobromide, and dried to yield 1-Methylamino-4-bromo anthraquinone (yield: 70–74%).
