2,2-Dichloro-2-fluoro-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)ethanone

Preparation

To acetonitrile was added periodic acid and this mixture was stirred at r.t. for 15 min. Dichlorofluoromethyl 4-methoxyphenyl alcohol was added followed by addition of pyridinium chlorochromate in acetonitrile, then the reaction mixture was stirred at 0°, for 10 min and at r.t. for 2.5 h (62%). Also obtained by reaction of sodium fluorodichloroacetate with p-anisole mag-nesium bromide in ethyl ether.
