Brown or reddish-brown liquid, sweet and slightly bitter. Soluble in water and ethanol.

Uses

Licorice extract is GB 2760-96: Permitted edible spices; it can also be used as sweeteners, flavoring agents and surfactants.

Synthesis

Take the dried roots and rhizomes of licorice leguminous plants, licorice bulge or licorice glabra, remove the dry raw materials of fibrous roots, and process them to obtain Licorice extract.
