Description
1H,1H,5H-Perfluoropentyl-1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethylether is an organic fluorine compound featuring a longer chain than its homologue F-EPE, and acts as a designed diluent with high steric hindrance and strong electron-withdrawing inductive effects that weaken Li+-solvent interactions. 1H,1H,5H-Perfluoropentyl-1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethylether serves as a fluorinated ether diluent and co-solvent in electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries, including local high-concentration electrolyte formulations combined with lithium salt and diethylene glycol dimethyl ether, as well as mixtures containing ethylene carbonate, diethyl carbonate, and lithium hexafluorophosphate[1-3].

Colorless to Almost colorless clear liquid.
Uses
1H,1H,5H-Perfluoropentyl-1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethylether can be used as organic synthesis intermediates and pharmaceutical intermediates, mainly used in laboratory research and development processes and chemical production processes.
Preparation
In a 2L pressure reactor, add 600g sulfolane, 620g difluoroacetic acid-2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5-octafluoropentyl ester, 200g tetramethylammonium hydroxide, and replace the inside of the kettle with nitrogen Turn on the stirring, heat up to 50°C, pass in tetrafluoroethylene, and maintain the pressure at 0.3MPa for reaction. When the tetrafluoroethylene has reached 220g, stop passing the gas, keep the temperature for 1h, cool, and remove the reaction liquid. It was filtered and rectified to obtain 596 g of 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethyl-2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5-octafluoropentyl ether with a yield of 90% and a purity of 99.8%.
