Commercial product is iso-Amylether, not nAmylether, Colorless liquid, practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and perfume materials. B.P. 235℃, Sp.Gr. 0.91.

Uses

Soap perfumes.

Preparation

Benzyl isoamyl ether is prepared from Benzyl chloride and iso-Amyl alcohol under alkaline conditions.

Safety Profile

A skin irritant. Flammable when exposed to heat or flame; can react withoxidizing materials. To fight fire, use foam, CO2, drychemical.
