Chemical Properties
Reddish brown powder, insoluble in water and ethanol; slightly soluble in xylene is date red. When encountered with concentrated sulfuric acid is dark brown and turn blue, diluted blue. The cryptochrome in the alkaline insurance powder reducing solution is reddish yellow, in the acidic solution is light brown. It is a sulfur-indigo reducing dye.
Uses
Vat Brown 5 is used for dyeing and printing textiles such as cotton, viscose, silk thread, wool, and vinylon. It has poor affinity for cotton, so it is rarely used for dyeing. It is suitable for direct printing, resist printing, and aniline black ground resist printing, as well as light to light-medium color discharge printing. Fabrics dyed with this product will have a slightly lighter color after treatment with urea-formaldehyde, cyanaldehyde, KMEU, BHES, etc.; after treatment with 2D resin, the color remains almost unchanged. Fabrics dyed with this product are prone to fiber embrittlement when exposed to sunlight.
Preparation
Naphtho[2,1-b]thiophen-1(2H)-one oxidation, this intermediates in Chlorobenzene using Phosphorus trichloride or 2-(Naphthalen-2-ylthio)acetic acid closed loop and have to (BIOS986, 260; FIAT 764).
Properties and Applications
brown to red light brown. Red brown powder. Insoluble in water and Etanol, slightly soluble in Xylene for bordeaux red solution. In concentrated sulfuric acid to dark brown, and then into blue, after dilution for blue; In the basic insurance powder also concentrate for the red light yellow, In the acidic insurance powder also concentrate for light brown. For light brittle dye. Suitable for direct printing, resist printing and aniline black color printing. Suitable for knitting &cotton fabric dyeing, more suitable for silk printing, and can also be used to viscose and wool dyeing. Can be processed into organic pigment.
