Uses
(E)-Metominostrobin is an amide and methoxyiminoacetamide strobilurin fungicide.
Production Methods
The industrial production of metominostrobin involves the preparation of methyl (E)-α-methoxyiminoacetic acid, which is then reacted with N-methyl-2-phenoxyphenylamine under controlled conditions to form the active compound. This condensation reaction yields the final molecule: (E)-methyl α-methoxyimino-N-methyl-2-phenoxyphenylacetamide. The synthesis is optimised for stereoselectivity to ensure the biologically active (E)-isomer predominates.

ChEBI: A monocarboxylic acid amide obtained by formal condensation of the carboxy group of (2E)-(methoxyimino)(2-phenoxyphenyl)acetic acid with the amino group of methylamine. Used for the control of Pyricularia oryzae on rice crops.
Hazard
Moderately toxic by ingestion.
Mechanism of action
Systemic with broad-spectrum curative and protectant activity, inhibits respiratory electron transfer. Respiration inhibitor (QoL fungicide).
