4,4'-DDT D8 Chemical Properties, Uses, Production
Uses
4,4'-Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane - D8 is a synthetic organochlorine insecticide. 4,4'-Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane - D8 functions by opening sodium ion channels in the insects’ neurons, causing them to fire spontaneously which in turn leads to death. 4,4'-Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane - D8 is banned for agricultural use in North America, it is still commonly used in some countries and particularly as a means of malaria control.
Biological Activity
Leptin is hypothesized to be a μμsatiety factorμμ, because the absence of this factor was associated with hyperphagia and obesity. Leptin is involved in appetite regulation. Human obesity is often associated with increased blood leptin levels. Leptin acts through discrete receptors and distant targets to create a feedback loop for body weight regulation. With respect to the target of leptin action, the hypothalamus has received a gre at deal of attention. The leptin system has also been proposed to contribute to early hematopoiesis.
