Preparation
1,2-Dimethoxypropane can be prepared by reacting propylene glycol methyl ether, a base, and an alkylating agent at a reaction temperature of 40–90 °C.
Chemical Properties
1,2-Dimethoxypropane is a colorless, low odor, transparent liquid at room temperature and pressure, with strong solubility and coupling properties. It is highly flammable and may generate explosive peroxides.
Uses
1,2-Dimethoxypropane has been used in the preparation of 1,4-dioxanes.
