8-Fluorooctanoic acid is used in the synthesis of a monofluoro 3-alkyl-2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone as a potential anti-malarial drug. It is also used in site-specific fluorination of biomolecules catalyzed by lipoic acid ligase.
