Uses
Flometoquin is a pesticide. It is also used in other insecticidal compositions containing flometoquin and anabasine as active ingredients. An agrochemical compound.
Production Methods
Commercial production of flometoquin follows a multi step quinoline assembly route described which includes regioselective chlorination, esterification, and nitration to build a highly substituted aromatic intermediate. This intermediate is then coupled with 4 (trifluoromethoxy)phenol via an SNAr reaction to introduce the key phenoxy group. After catalytic reduction of the nitro group, the resulting anthranilic ester undergoes cyclisation with diethyl ketone to form the quinolinone core, which is subsequently converted into the final methyl carbonate insecticide structure. Industrial production scales this sequence using controlled chlorination, catalytic hydrogenation, and solvent managed cyclisation steps to deliver technical grade flometoquin.
