Chemical Properties
-100 mesh golden green with 99.9% purity; trig; can be prepared by heating powder(s) carbon and CeO2 at 1250°C in CO atmospheric [KIR78] [CER91]
Uses
The compound cerium oxide (either Ce2O3 or CeO2) is used to coat the inside of ovens because it was discovered that food cannot stick to oven walls that are coated with cerium oxide.

Dicerium trioxide can be produced by reducing cerium dioxide at high temperatures. For example, when carbon monoxide is used as the reducing agent, the reaction formula is:
4 CeO2 + 2 CO 2 Ce2O3 + 2 CO2
