Preparation
Isononanoic acid was prepared by oxidation under acidic conditions using isononol as raw material, hydrogen peroxide solution as oxidant, and a co-oxidant and phase transfer catalyst.
Uses
Isononanoic acid has a wide range of applications. It can be used as a pharmaceutical intermediate, a synthetic lubricant intermediate, a raw material for metalworking fluids, and can also be used for the modification of alkyd resins.
