PROXYFAN MALEATE Chemical Properties, Uses, Production
Uses
Proxyfan is a potent histamine H3 receptor antagonist with Ki values of 2.9 nM and 2.7 nM for rat and human H3 receptor, respectively. Proxyfan is over 1000-fold more potent at H3 receptors than other histamine receptors[1][2].
Biological Activity
High affinity histamine H 3 receptor ligand (pK i = 8.62) that acts as a protean agonist at recombinant and native receptors. In functional studies, activity ranges from full agonist to inverse agonist depending on system used. Displays partial agonist effects on cAMP inhibition and MAPK activity, neutral antagonist activity on histamine release and partial inverse agonism of [ 3 H]-arachidonic acid release.
