Description
Diclocymet is a rice fungicide. It has a low aqueous solubility and is quite volatile. There are significant gaps in reported fate data and data on human health impacts. Diclocymet is moderately toxic to fish.

Definition
ChEBI: A diastereoisomeric mixture comprising equimolar amounts of (1R,2S)- and (1R,2R)-diclocymet. A fungicide used for the control of rice blast in paddy fields. It also shows some activity aga nst paddy field insect pests including rice water weevil and rice-stem borer. Diclocymet is moderately toxic to fish.
Production Methods
Diclocymet is commercially synthesised through a process that begins with the preparation of a chiral 2,4-dichlorophenylethylamine, which is reacted with cyanoacetic acid derivatives to introduce the cyano group. This intermediate undergoes amidation with dimethylbutanoyl chloride to form the final diclocymet molecule, a diastereoisomeric mixture of (1R,2S)- and (1R,2R)-isomers. The reaction is conducted under controlled temperature and solvent conditions to ensure stereoselectivity and purity.
