Uses
Didecyl Phthalate is a primary plasticizer for vinyl resins and also shown to be compatible with polystyrene and cellulosics.
Application
Didecyl phthalate has low volatility, only a quarter of that of dioctyl phthalate (DOP), and has low migration and good resistance to extraction. It can be used as a plasticizer for vinyl resins and cellulose resins. It is also used as a stationary liquid for gas chromatography, with a maximum use temperature of 150 °C, and the solvent is acetone, chloroform or methanol. It can selectively retain and separate aromatic compounds, unsaturated compounds and various oxygen-containing compounds (alcohols, aldehydes, ketones and esters). etc.), halogenated hydrocarbons and hydrocarbon compounds below G.
Preparation
Didecyl phthalate is synthesized by esterification of phthalic anhydride and decyl alcohol.
