Description

Colistin methanesulfonate is a prodrug for colistin (also known as polymyxin E), an antibiotic that is effective against most Gram-negative bacteria but suffers from nephro- and neurotoxicity. Colistin methanesulfonate is used against infections caused by multidrug resistant Gram-negative bacteria, alone or in combination with other antibiotics.
