| Chemical Properties | White crystal | | Synthesis | General procedure for the synthesis of N-(2-naphthalenyl)-3-bromocarbazole from 9-(naphthalen-2-yl)-9H-carbazole: Compound 3-1 (9-(naphthalen-2-yl)-9H-carbazole) (24 g, 93.2 mmol) and N-bromosuccinimide (14 g, 79 mmol) were dissolved in 832 mL of tetrahydrofuran (THF) and the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 20 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the organic layer was extracted with ethyl acetate and dried with anhydrous magnesium sulfate to remove residual water.
