| Synthesis | A catalytic amount of 10% palladium/activated carbon was added to a solution of 3-(4-methoxyphenyl)acrylic acid (15 g, 14.7 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (50 mL). The hydrogenation reaction was carried out at room temperature with continuous stirring for 5 hours.
