HUMAN PLACENTA GROWTH FACTOR Usage And Synthesis
UsesPLGF-1 is an angiogenic factor that belongs to the cysteine-knot superfamily of growth factors. PLGF-1 is expressed in placental tissues, colon and mammary carcinomas. It signals through the VEGFR-1/FLT1 receptor and stimulates endothelial cell proliferation and migration. Recombinant human PLGF-1 is a 29.7 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric protein of two 131 amino acid polypeptide chains.
Biological ActivityReduced levels of placental growth factor (PGF) indicates restricted growth in the fetus. Increased stimulation of PGF is observed in cancers and hind limb ischemia and in wound healing. Hypoxic conditions upregulate PGF expression. Increased expression of PGF gene is observed in cutaneous T-cell lymphoma and it supports in the cell proliferation process.
