| Application | 2-Aminobenzo[B]thiophene-3-carboxynitrile is a nitrile compound that can be used as an organic solvent. | | Synthesis | A mixture of 2-nitro-1-benzothiophene-3-carbonitrile (134 mg, 0.656 mmol) with 10% Pd/C (70 mg, 0.066 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (3 mL) under nitrogen protection. The gas in the flask was replaced with hydrogen and the reaction was stirred under hydrogen atmosphere for 24 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was filtered through a diatomaceous earth pad and the diatomaceous earth pad was washed with methanol (10 mL) and ethyl acetate (10 mL). The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure and dried under high vacuum to afford the target product 2-aminobenzo[b]thiophene-3-carbonitrile (109 mg, 95% yield).
