| Synthesis | 3-Hydroxy-2,4,6-triiodobenzaldehyde, dry pyridine, and a catalytic amount of water were added to a dry reaction flask. The resulting mixture was stirred under reflux for 4 hours. After the reaction was complete, the mixture was concentrated under vacuum, and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography. The target product, 3-hydroxy-4-iodobenzaldehyde, was obtained by elution with petroleum ether:ethyl acetate = 4:1 (v/v).
