Synthesis | GENERAL STEPS: 2-Methyl-1-(4-nitrophenyl)-1H-imidazole (12.8 g, 63 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (150 mL) and palladium/carbon catalyst (3 g) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred for 8 h at room temperature in a hydrogen atmosphere. The progress of the reaction was monitored by thin layer chromatography (TLC) and after confirming the complete consumption of the feedstock, the reaction mixture was filtered to remove the catalyst and the filtrate was concentrated under vacuum to afford 4-(2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)aniline (10 g, 92% yield). | References | [1] Patent: WO2009/71888, 2009, A1.
